Following the sudden departure of the long-time NBC reality competition show Nick Cannon, Tyra Banks has been confirmed to take over as the new host. The news was announced by Paul Telegdy, President of NBC Entertainment’s Alternatives and Reality Group.
“Tyra is the complete package: Out of this world talented, funny, brilliant and all heart,” Paul stated. “In whatever she has done, she has always connected with audiences around the world.” We could not agree more.
Telegndy is confident that Banks vivacious spirit will infuse the show in a big way. Later after the announcement, the show shared this incredible news on Instagram posting a stunning photo of the 43 years old model and fashion icon. The welcoming caption read, “America, strike a pose. # AGT has a brand –new host! Welcome to the fam, @tyrabanks!”
Banks has a vast experience. Besides running her show, Tyra Banks, the fashion icon has served as the host of America’s Next Top Model on The CW and UPN.
Her announcement as the host caught fans with a surprise despite her prolific resume. This is after rumours swirled that Brandon Mychal was most likely to take the job.
The departure of Cannon was confirmed by himself through an Instagram post in February. Allegedly, Cannon was already “threatened with termination” following jokes that he told in his stand-up special, Stand Up Don’t Shoot.
The comedian opened up about his calculated decision to quit as AMG host saying that he is excited to move to “bigger and better things.”
Fresh blood into the show, things are about to get better!
